English Language Development
English Language Development
There are two types of English Language Development (ELD) Programs for our English Learners at Park Avenue: Integrated and Designated ELD.
Integrated ELD
Integrated ELD
Integrated ELD is defined as instruction in which the state-adopted ELD standards are used in tandem with the state-adopted academic content standards. Integrated ELD includes specifically designed academic instruction in English. Source: CDE
Integrated ELD has all day throughout the child's day.
Designated ELD
Designated ELD
Designated ELD is defined as instruction provided uring a time during the regular school day for focused instruction on the state-adopted ELD standards to assist English learners to develop critical English language skills necessary for academic content learning in English. Source: CDE
Designated ELD occurs daily for 30-45 minutes per day for all students that speak another language other than English and have not yet reaches English language proficiency as determined by the English Language Profiency Assessment of California (ELPAC).
